Early Maps of America

Early maps of North and South America from 1507 to 1909.  America is depicted as it was known to the cartographers of those times. They are arranged in chronological order so you can see how mapping evolved as geographers gathered more accurate information. From Ptolemy's map as recreated by Martin Waldseemuller and showing "America" for the first time, to the increasingly accurate renditions of the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. These maps are important pieces of American history. The maps are giclee prints on very high quality cotton rag archival paper, with a selection of museum quality frames and mats.  The prints are derived from images in the archives of the Library of Congress.
